Mormons for Romney??

I generally tend to be moderate as far as politics go. I've been talking to different people about the upcoming primary election, and I just get more and more frustrated.

Honestly, just like the people who wouldn't vote for Romney because he is a Mormon, there are way too many who are planning to vote for him because he is a Mormon. That is no reason to choose a president. I think that voting for someone just because they are a Republican is pretty stupid as well.

So, as I was talking in out with Aaron, (since I do a lot better after the situation than while in it) I discovered the real question:

"Would you vote for every person in your ward who wanted to run for president, just because they are a Mormon?"

I know there are several Mormons who I've met who'd make horrible leaders. I'm not saying that he would necessarily be a bad leader, I just think people should REALLY think about it before they vote and not just go with the crowd.

I'm not voting for Romney- but it's because I'm not so fond of his politics- it has nothing to do with his (and my) religion. I won't vote for him just because he's a Mormon then I would vote for Hillary Clinton just because we're both woman.

Good point! I don't have anything against Romney. But having grown up in a Republican state with one Democrat and one strongly left-wing Independent parent, I get really frustrated with people and their politics.
Especially when they think one party is right and they don't even know what their own party stands for...or if their canditate is standing for what the party does.
I HATE voting time too. My dad will not leave any of us alone until he knows for sure who we voted for, and if he doesn't agree with it, he'll keep bringing it up for the next four (or eight) years.
Ugh.

This is exactly why my husband and I like to technically claim we are "independents." We like to look at all the candidates and research them and the issues to see who we align with best.

Sen Reid of Nevada is a good example of why you can't vote for someone based on their religion. They may not vote anything like what their religion teaches.

At my visiting teaching visit this month, I learned that both my companion and the sister we visit consider themselves conservative republicans but don't really know what that means.

I registered to vote recently, and realized I didn't mark the box saying which party. There are things about each platform that I like, and things I hate...I guess I'm an independent too.
