Last night, Belle decided she wanted to use the toilet. She sat there for a very short time (without making a deposit) and didn't want to put a diaper on. She wanted to wear pretty panties. I put some on her with the promise that she wouldn't wet or soil them. She was very excited! But she didn't want to go to the toilet when she needed to go...
She stayed dry for maybe an hour and then wet on the floor. (Thank goodness she happened to be standing in the kitchen!) She was pretty disturbed, and wanted to put more underwear on. She also wants princess panties. I told her we'd buy them for her when she can go pee in the toilet.
I don't think she's quite ready, but I think pretty panties will do the trick when she is!
Any advice?

No advice here, we're in the same boat. Gracie likes to wear about 5 pair all at once.
I wish my 3 year old son would want to wear "manly" underwear :) !!
Good luck!
I've been investigating the many potty training approaches lately. (I'm more than a little freaked out about training two.) There are quite a few people who subscribe to the put-them-in-underwear-all-day theory of potty training. Which means go out and purchase 20 pairs of pretty panties, make a big deal about the pretty panties, and prepare yourself to wash 20 pairs of panties each night. Supposedly this really works and if Belle is interested in panties then this might be a good one for her!
I liked a lot of the approaches in Pantley's No Cry Potty Training Solution.
Oh, I have plenty of advice, but don't ask me right now. My current response to potty training is, "Don't expect anything until I'm done being pregnant."
Good luck and I hope you will have one of those lovely girls who just potty trains herself =)
this potty training thing is interesting with a girl....it's all about the pretty panties apparently here. i just go with the flow, haha (mine will be 3 in may). but how about panties OVER diaper? or over pull up?? never tried it, but we haven't graduated to pull ups or panties yet (panties in the drawer or on the bear thus far, lol).
*found my way here via the chick with the ice cream*
the underwear helped us. Elora was doing pretty good with the pullups, and the few times we put underwear on, she peed and scared herself too. But when she stopped wanting to use the potty, we gave her the underwear and hid her diapers. It took about two days, but it worked! She was done at about 26months, in December.
